Problem number two, my power steering pump failed on me once. Took a trip the other day with me and two other guys, average builds, and everyone was plenty comfortable while traveling. The only bad thing about this car is I can not drive it all day and night. I was told that there was a crack in the transmission. You need to remove the splash shield under the engine. Have had this problem corrected once or twice.
The fluid should be level with the bottom of the hole. Heater will not blow out hot air bottom or top vents when ideling or low speeds. Mini needs to suck it up and claim responsibility for these shoddily made cars, they have made their money and don't care to help with anything. This is definitely what I believe a car dealership should represent. Unit contains sealed bearings so I'm told , that are not serviceable. Mini replaced it with I'm guessing a rebuilt transmission. I have records of all service and check it regularly and it has never been low.
I fortunately was able to limp it to a shop without any fire. If you have a manual tranny, which one do you have? Again, the car completely fails-everything-engine, electrical, all power you can not open door locks, windows or the rear hatch. Every warning light illuminated on the dash, all gauges dropped to zero, no power whatsoever from the engine, no way to open windows or door locks as their was a complete and total electrical and mechanical failure of this vehicle - there was absolutely no notice. Only I would consider is if you need cargo space with passengers as when you are able to have the rear seats folded there is plenty but if you had friends in the back you are limited. The only way to get the fluid in is by pumping the fluid back in by means of the fill plug on the lower front of the transmission. If I had it to do over, I would definitely buy this car.
Mini customer service was abhorrent. However, they have apparently changed the design, recognizing the poor design of the original unit. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who offered to pay for half of the costs.

Our discount used 2008 Mini Cooper transmissions come directly from a dependable network of modern junk yards. At around 15-17k miles the transmission basically exploded while I was on the highway. Even though this is a 2-hour drive from western Massachusetts to Shrewsbury, I would recommend this dealership to my friends. Third, I have had to put three windshields in the car. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the clutch and fly wheel needed to be replace. Mini must be held accountable for this defect and failure; this is of very serious nature.
