If you've got ten bucks and ninety minutes to spare, it will be time and money well spent. Seana Kofoed wrote the script and co-stars along with Rob Benedict, Cathy Shim, Rusty Schwimmer, Robert Breuler, Marielle Scott, and Birgundi Baker. The actors also brilliantly portray the difficulties of old college friends being reunited after years of being apart. But it was typical Ferrell and J. First off, it's not funny at all. As a whole and individually, their acting skills are wonderful, making them believable as a group of friends coming together years later in hopes of rekindling their old magic. I will join in at the end of my review and rating.
It's a drama with a dash of horror, and a sprinkling of Sci-Fi. So here are her thoughts about her role, the film, and even upcoming projects: 1. A group of estranged college friends have gathered together, thirty miles from nowhere in the woods of Walworth County, Wisconsin, to pay their final respects to their friend Max Andrew Rothenberg: Save the Last Dance 2001 , Stranger Than Fiction 2006 , a somewhat controversial research psychologist. With no place to go and no cellphone signal to call for help, they find themselves in danger and… 30 Miles From Nowhere. Even discounting the glowing fake? She is always open to learning and expanding her knowledge and gaining new perspectives.
The game cast featuring Carrie Preston, Rob Benedict, Cathy Shim, Seana Kofoed who also wrote the film and William Smillie really sell the material. Of course, he has been in many diverse roles, but each time I see a new one I am reminded how good of an actor he really is. The film joins these friends for an increasing set of odd events occurring over the few days they are in this house. I'm not sure what's going on with all the haters among these user reviews, but this is a pretty darn good movie. They perfectly portray the dynamics of the old group, with much banter amongst them, but also the bad blood and bitter feelings that have developed from both the drifting apart and from old memories that the characters have spent years stewing on. The creep factor at the cabin is high, with a thumping in the crawl space, blood spurting from the pipes, and a cockroach infestation in the guest bedroom.
The film will have its Los Angeles premiere on March 4, 2019. That's an impressive feat in a relatively short thriller movie. While many recent films have claimed diversity, 30 Miles from Nowhere actually delivers on this promise with a well-rounded cast and a production team that includes nearly 50% women. Congrats to Caitlin Koller on a fantastic film. With the situation devolving around them, the friends will have to overcome their past issues if they hope for their entire group to make it out of the woods alive. The performances helped elevate the cookie cutter plot of the typical horror of friends in an isolated location. As every person is different, I usually say don't judge something based solely on reviews.
When I stumbled upon the film, , in a discussion thread, I had never heard of it before. Seana Kofoed did a spectacular job giving us a plot line and characters with substance. Honestly, I'm not sure if I would want any of those characters to be an old friend of mine. The only redeeming quality was the decent acting and ok directing. While there is some originality here, it boils down to a confusing, convoluted mess in the final act. It's about businesswoman Gia Rossi who is determined to be successful in her new job, but when her ex-lover Jax Rutledge waltzes back into her life, their passionate connection ignites not only in the boardroom but the bedroom too.
It also features the acting talents of Rusty Schwimmer The Perfect Storm 2000 , 2016 ; Birgundi Baker Empire series , Black Lightning series ; Reggie Baker The Lincoln Lawyer 2011 , Empire series ; and Robert Breuler The Crucible 1996 , Prison Break series. A bit of humor gets mixed in with all the chaos at this spooky retreat. Rob Benedict, just like anything he is in, does an amazing job! Sit back, relax, and enjoy!! Jeannie likes to joke that she is little, yellow, blue, and different. Rob did amazing as Larry and he has a knack for playing not so good guys. I loved the psychology based Indie Horror Feature. The plot is so stupid that you don't care enough about the characters for it to be scary.
After the untimely death of their old college pal, five friends and one new girlfriend descend upon the Wisconsin summer home they frequented in their 20s. There are some good scares and some big laughs. According to horror movie logic, there are a number of reasons why a group of presumably intelligent people would head out into the woods, voluntarily. Beginning with a rainstorm and loss of power. Of course, this reunion takes place at a summer cabin a very nice one, if I may add in the woods that the friends use to hang out at when they were twentysomethings.
The premise of the film is five college friends who return to rural Wisconsin for their estranged friends funeral. The story however is it's high and low points at the same time. Later, the plot is a bit overdeveloped and chooses to focus more on telling us what had been going on, rather than showing us how scary that was. While the humor that she delivers is somewhat dry, and 30 Miles from Nowhere never toes the line into full-blown comedy or grade-B gooey Velveeta-ness, she is funny; delivering awkwardly placed, uncomfortably bleak, and perfectly-timed humorous anecdotes. It's an independent film, surely low budget, without a major studio behind it.
He makes you forget that Rob Benedict exists. I say try watching the movie first and develop your own opinions. So, no, guys, you're not going to have the editing and cinematography of a Titanic. Set in Walworth County, Wisconsin, 30 Miles from Nowhere was actually filmed in Illinois. This is a low budget film with writing about as good as a 5th grader. However, I will say that the setting and the actors create a very creepy and suspenseful air, perfectly demonstrating the awkwardness of the situation that brought them together. The cinematography was extremely well shot, and the colors and use of the bokeh in the bar were eye-catching.
To me this was not a terrible film, it had some thought and ideas, although they were derivative of other psycho-horror stories. This movie is written well and gives us back story to each character in the short amount of time the movie goes on. This is the kind of film that isn't for everyone. The cast - led by Carrie Preston, Rob Benedict, Seana Kofoed - really sell the film. The only critique I have is I feel that the 2nd and 3rd act feel a bit rushed to me but it does not detach from the experience so much that its a real negative.
