Arun and Jack fight until Jack kills Arun and saves the Princess. Like the latter, it sends an American teenager back to ancient China where he learns to summon the warrior inside of him and teams up with a noble companion to save a kingdom from the clutches of an evil warlord. Jack gets to know Princess Su Lin and she stays with him overnight. Eventually, Jack and Su Lin catapult themselves faraway and Zhao and the Wizard get away as well. The action is only okay and it is rather sparing. Jack thus teams up with Zhao to journey across the undulating lands to Arun's lair, with some timely help here and there from a trickster wizard named Wu Francis Ng who may or may not have something to do with Jack's current predicament.
As a boy mom, there is one thing that I can count on when choosing a movie for the family to watch. Jack and Zhao find out that Arun the Cruel will marry the Princess, become Emperor and then have her killed; so their mission is to save her. The Wizard uses his magic to distract everyone and frees Jack and Zhao just before hanging. It is actually rather inoffensive as a piece of entertainment. You should not, in the first instance, expect it to make much sense, for it gives scant regard to logic or coherence.
It is no mystery whether Jack and Zhao will rescue Princess Sulin in time before her fateful marriage with Arun, or for that matter if Jack will eventually turn out to be the valiant 'Black Knight' that prophecy had foretold. The film represent the first real French-Chinese collaborative production for Besson, who has long had a fascination with Chinese action cinema. And Zhoo's plan to get in is to surrender. Great things: the concept, the music, the costumes and there would have been a good script in there somewhere. Certainly many parents may be looking for the right movie to show children who are slowly developing an interest in martial arts. The movie is a mess, the main plot is threadbare but the movie finds every excuse to deviate from it with pointless, never followed up subplots, like the witch, or the quickly abandoned training scene.
Like we said at the start, we weren't expecting much from this rip-off of 'The Forbidden Kingdom', which was itself diverting but disposable entertainment. I thought the fight scenes were very well choreographed and they threw in some lol moments throughout the movie to keep the tone light and easy going while still having enough action to keep the pace going. Taiwanese actor Mark Chao is a convincing warrior Zhao. Jack will need all of his gaming skills as he battles to defeat the barbarian, protect a beautiful princess, and somehow find his way back home. Like the latter, its humour is based on self-aware anachronism and its action of the traditional 'wushu' variety. To say it has encouraged my boys to Kung Fu train and fight each other would be an understatement! His mother is trying to sell the house they live in before it goes into foreclosure.
The film has suspense and a lot of heart. I never had to refer to subtitles for any of the dialog regardless of scene. Maybe he appeals to a much younger audience, but nothing here. Kills Time with Enjoyable Action and Fun The movie actually surprised in Liberal 2017 Social Justice Anti-Certain culture Hollywood. You'd think the movie was over, but nope, 10 more minutes of pointless subplots are resolved - Jack kisses the Princess he has known for like half a day, gets chased by the royal guard because this is punishable by death, despite him just saving the kingdom, and then Zhoo relents and lets him go because he learned during the movie not to be uptight with rules. The wizard gives Jack bags of magic powder to throw at them. This film is best for teens, especially those who like wizards, magic, mentors, and teens coming into their own, along with brutal action. The Empress's guards see her lipstick on Jacks face and try to kill him for touching her; but he gets home through the Warriors Gate; smashing it to pieces and rendering it useless to get back.
Thoroughly enjoyable, this action comedy has just the right blend of East and West. Filming started on May 4, 2015. Jack helps out by working for Mr. In the story, a teenager is magically transported to China, where he takes his video games skills and puts them to work as he becomes a Kung Fu Master. So these ideas work fine, just in better movies. Overall, that brings the release up to a solid meh.
The barbarians take the Princess back into the other realm through the Warriors Gate but when Jack goes in after her he arrives somewhere else. The acting is not to bad if this was 1995. The fights sound great and make good use of the surround while still keeping dialog clear. The cast has a lot of potentials however they were all murdered by poor scripting, and exaggerated acting by some actors. Only 1 simple move hold hands out.
